Human Development

We are thrilled to collaborate with Susan Rivera, Editor of Human Development, as well as members of the Karger team. We want to acknowledge with gratitude outgoing Human Development editor Larry Nucci for his contribution to this new partnership, and we also want to thank Magdalena Mühlemann, who has been exceedingly helpful with the details of formalizing this new relationship. We hope that all readers of Human Development will take a moment to consider joining the Jean Piaget Society for the Study of Knowledge and Development and/or attending our 50th anniversary conference celebration in June 2021. We welcome the readership of Human Development to continue discussions of important issues pertaining to the study of human development with us.

Genetic Epistemologist

For several decades, and before the time of the internet, members of the JPS received the GE quarterly via snail mail. It was the mechanism by which members stayed connected with the society. Issues included the annual call for program proposals along with submission guidelines, as well as other internal communications about the society. Long before the invention of conference program apps or even a conference program, the “symposium issue” each year provided information about the conference program. Members especially enjoyed receiving copies of GE that provided space for JPS members, friends, and students to publish brief articles, book reviews, and interesting new ideas that were invited by the JPS for submission. As the JPS website took on many functions of GE, the last issue was produced in 2001.

How Ideas Travel Podcast

How Ideas Travel is a podcast series from the Jean Piaget Society for the Study of Knowledge and Development. These conversations, led by Colette Daiute and Nancy Budwig, highlight people who ponder the nature, culture, and dynamics of ideas that fuel the development of individuals and societies. By exploring the personal and interpersonal dimensions of knowledge and knowing, we show how ideas are alive and practical. This series reaches out to everyone interested in ideas as beacons in human life.
